April 9-11, 2008

The best way to describe these three days is “Empowerment Days” for women and for business.

On Wednesday April 9th, I was honored to speak at North Carolina State University at the Outstanding Women Awards.  It is always uplifting to learn of the projects and community endeavors by young people and this event highlighted many worthwhile projects.

Thursday April 10th was an exciting day to demonstrate electronic notary and electronic recording to paralegals and attorneys in New Hanover County with Register of Deeds Becky Smith.  North Carolina leads the nation in this new area with this being another important tool for businesses, lenders and economic developers to use in their work.

That evening, I spoke to the Brunswick County Entreprenurial Conference and the next morning to the South Brunswick Rotary Club.  Participating in events like these provide me with the opportunity to inform the public on the latest happenings in the Department of the Secretary of State, and more importantly gives me a chance to listen to others.

Best Regards,
