Results. Reform. Protection. For People.

Thank you for visiting my campaign website!

I treasure the opportunity I have had to work for the people of North Carolina--to provide them with the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of service in the Secretary of State’s office that reduces the time and cost of doing business.  Americans are working in a tough, new economy where successful states must meld innovation and cutting-edge technology to continue to be vibrant.  North Carolina can and will be one of the great success stories in this competitive business climate.

I ask for your support to continue the work we have begun--providing greater accountability and openness in state government, using new technologies to ensure all areas of NC have equal access to public records, protecting our citizens from con artists selling bad investments and fighting to rid our streets of counterfeit goods that hurt our small businesses.

We have made tremendous strides in lobbying reform in the last four years. In 2004, I commissioned the blue-ribbon Advisory Council on Legislative Lobbying Policy and Regulation, consisting of members of the legislature, non-profit and corporate lobbyists, members of the media and other interested persons. The final report of this Lobbying Council would ultimately be adopted into the Lobbying and Ethics laws we have seen in recent years. These laws have held lobbyists and government officials accountable to the voters of North Carolina and provided sunshine on the inner workings of our state government.

As Secretary of State, I safeguard consumers, retailers, and manufacturers from counterfeit goods. Our families deserve products that are genuine – and safe – and our workers need protection from illegal operations that make unsafe, counterfeit merchandise. In October 2007, I was recognized by the United States Chamber of Commerce for Distinguished Service as a State Government Official for my national leadership to support local NC law enforcement in the fight against counterfeit and bootleg products.

Look at my record of service, and you will see that I stand for results, reform and protection for the people of North Carolina. I hope you will stand with me on the November 4th election!

Hope to see you on the trail,
